Jump 6. Pokemon Trainer
I didn't even talk to Cadis and Jiro about what Sasha had told me until we were in the warehouse between jumps. I figured it was more important to be focused on the task at hand than consumed with bullshit drama.
But we found ourselves in the warehouse after the jump was over. Eurynomos had been here before and vaguely understood what was going to happen after a decade. He was really looking forward to going to a world where everyone could have normal conversations.
"Well, here we are," said my benefactor. "You did it. Now, you said you wanted a vacation and-"
"Shush," I instructed them. "I gotta talk to my brothers for a minute. Um. Hey. Jiro, Cadis. I heard that you two were planning to bail early in Young Justice."
The two looked at each other, confused. Jiro spoke first. "Um, Sevvie. That was over 500 years ago?"
"Yeah, so why didn't you come clean about that to me?" I said. "If you guys don't want to be here, you can go." I looked to my benefactor. "They can go, yeah?"
"They can," replied my benefactor. "But they can never come back, if they do."
"Yeah, I figured that," I replied. "So. You guys wanna go, or…?"
"No," replied Cadis. "We've gotten used to it. And anyways, it was just that…" He sighed, pushing his hand through his dense hair. "We didn't really exactly want to come. But we figured we could go to the first world, get some cool powers, come home, and start changing things in our world."
"But once we were in the world, we were more that world's versions of us than we were ourselves," continued Jiro. "We considered again before Zendikar but… by that point I think we got used to it."
"How does it even work?" I asked. "When you're someone else?"
"It's like… logically, we know what's going on," explained Jiro. "But emotionally we're more in tune with our personas in that world. We really think we're them. It's only here we can sort of… think straight. But we chose that, so we have to deal with it."
"So you want to be here?" I asked them.
Cadis and Jiro looked at each other, then nodded. "We've gotten used to it," said Cadis. "And I like having powers."
"If you ever feel like you want to leave, just tell me, okay?" I told the two of them. "That goes for all of you." I looked around at the four of them, and then looked at the benefactor. "Give me the jumps."
King Arthur… no, as a woman with four gay dudes traveling with me, the medieval period was not where I wanted to go at all. Dodgeball. Yeah, I'd seen that movie in Drama class in High School… but I hated the sport, so no. Pokemon Trainer! Wow, that was an option? Yeah, that seemed like a great option. Just a pretty low-stress adventure and all~
Familiar of Zero, no. Generic Creepypasta… well, if it was like the two Generic jumps I'd been to so far it might be useful. "Okay, so I think for our vacation we're going to Pokemon," I told the others. "Let me know if you've got an objections there. I'll read the booklet for it, you guys maybe read Generic Creepypasta, see if there's useful stuff there."
"Why is there no companion import option here?" I asked my benefactor.
"It's an older jump," they replied. "For 100 CP, I'll let you import all of your companions and give them a free starter or the opportunity to buy a more expensive one. 900 CP should be good for the rest."
"Well, I'm sold," I told them. "Yeah, this will be a jump where I take no drawbacks, just hang out. Maybe I'll even pay to be older."
"Generic Creepypasta looks helpful," said Jiro. "There's a lot of good stuff in a bunch of the origins, especially Cryptid. But do you think you want to use your coupon on that?"
"I'll read it and decide," I told him. I handed him Pokemon. "They're letting me bring you guys in but you only get your 900 CP and a starter."
After reading the brochure fully I agreed with Jiro. "Okay, I'll use my coupon. Freeze the options. But for now we're going to Pokemon!"

And it was the vacation we had all been looking for.
Pokemon was a world where yeah, there were bad guys seeking to fulfill ridiculous plots left and right, but they could always be taken down by a plucky kid and their pet monsters.
We could explore, without having to worry about Eldrazi or my brothers getting horribly lost again. We could relax and not feel like we were dooming other people to a horrible fate.
And we had lots of time to work on our various projects, too. Cadis finally got time to work on the Magical Cellphone project he'd been working on, on and off since Harry Potter, though we all pitched in with that. Everyone but Sasha was an Artificer, after all, and he and Eurynomos were also the only two who weren't Technomages.
We could use these phones to communicate with each other anywhere via magic, even in the warehouse or other dimensions, and similarly we could use them to connect to the internet or local equivalent anywhere, too. They could also activate several programmed magic effects- occult apps, in a way!
I spent a lot of time administering my afterlife, tweaking the elaborate judgement process and implementing a new system of Severity Levels. Most of people would just go to heaven, if they hadn't done anything especially bad, though they may spend a few months in Purgatory. It was a new zone I'd created, vaguely based on the Catholic concept. Unlike Hell, which was punishment punishment punishment, it was more of a rehabilitation and cleansing realm. Souls actually did pretty badly transitioning straight from Hell to Heaven, so a place where they weren't being punished or rewarded seemed needed for my purposes. Some people would go to Hell for a while, spend a few months in Purgatory detoxing and getting ready for Heaven, and then spending the rest of eternity in Heaven or a significant amount of time there before reincarnating. The worst people would spend a lengthy time in Hell before being reincarnated. They would have a chance to go to Heaven after their next life, but I wasn't going to let these sorts of people go to my Heaven.
I also made new minions for my realm. Most demons that I'd gotten from my original world were overly sadistic and frequently disobedient. So I made new ones! My new demons were goat-like humanoids who lacked that natural sadism, having more of an administrative bent. I also made sheep-like humanoids to inhabit Purgatory. I just called them sheeple because I didn't have a better name for them.
When we weren't working on our projects, we were actually… catching pokemon. Yeah, I know. Shocking. We eventually wound up traveling the regions of the world. We even ended up in Kalos and ended up accidentally screwing up the plot there. Team Flare was arrested for their crimes and Yveltal refused to leave my side. I guess it recognized me as a force of death and all. ...plus we fed it fancy Poke Puffs. Sasha was shockingly good at making them.
While we all had a bunch of Pokemon on the PC in the warehouse, in the end we sort of had a normal, six player team each. But like Noah, we had collected 2 of each Pokemon that we could so that once back in our world, we could manage to bring Pokemon to everyone! In fact, for most of them we had more than 2 of them, because we wanted to avoid inbreeding as much as possible. We also brought several Dittos in addition to Cadis's for that very reason.
Also, we could probably spread them to other worlds if we felt like we found a world that could use Pokemon.
Normally, Pokemon spent their time in the PC or in a Pokeball in a tiny virtual reality environment, which was a relief to find out. This environment emulated a Pokemon's own ideal home, and other Pokemon could come and visit it if they wanted to. We expanded on this with our PC system, as we didn't want to bore the creatures while they were in stasis, and made a larger VR hub for them to hang out in when they didn't want to be in their own private realm.
2026 Retrospective:
This jump starts with Sevvie confronting Jiro and Cadis about Sasha’s revelation. They’re like “yeah, that was 500 years ago” which is fair. They want to be here now, and Sevvie accepts this without any unnecessary drama.
Quill: I think that’s a bit of a thing with Sevvie - no unnecessary drama with her, at least once she hits adulthood. Any conflict better be important to her.
In Pokemon, everyone goes to Unova and has a relaxing time. People work on different projects. Sevvie revamps her afterlife and introduces a domain called Purgatory, “vaguely based on the Catholic concept.”Quill: When did Sevvie learn this much about Catholicism? Who in her life is Catholic?
Sevvie makes new goat-like demons to run her revamped Hell, as well as sheep-like humanoids called sheeple to run Purgatory.Cadis works on magical cell phones.
Meanwhile, Sevvie also goes to Kalos, defeats Team Flare, and catches Yveltal.
The gang catches Pokemon like Noah to bring to other worlds, and prepares dittos for breeding as well. They then prepare for Generic Creepypasta.
Despite it being hyped, there’s no text about Eurynomos finally interacting with normal people outside of Sevvie’s gang. ← Previous Chapter|Next Chapter →
