Jump 9. Skyrim
My benefactor let my brothers go off and practice their new powers for a bit while I hung out with them and looked at the new jumps. They were now experiencing the power of Level One Hundred, and together with Realm of Myths it was basically as if each of them had an optimized build. Jiro and Eurynomos also had the power of their species from that world, meaning that just in general those two were overpowered.
"So… where can we go this time?" I asked them.
"Really? You don't want to wait for your brothers to come back before you make your decision?"
"Nah, I want to get this over before they show up. Show me the jumps."
Okay, here we go. Skyrim… that was a pretty solid maybe. It could be fun to run around the overly cold land of Skyrim and fight dragons and stuff. Pretty stressful, sure. Naruto… no. I had no desire to relive my middle school years. Jiro would bring up my horrible Naruto OCs whenever he could, and… actually, let's just put this brochure behind the stand. Warhammer Tyranids. I didn't really know a lot about Warhammer, except it was a game that my dad's ex was into and that it was super grimdark. Yeah, super grimdark, not the place I wanted to spend a decade in. Umineko… I had never heard of it. Like always, I wasn't going to go to some place I didn't know about. And finally, Fate/Zero. I had watched the anime version of it, though I'd never played the games and wasn't really big into the Nasuverse at large. Still, it could be a possibility… if Skyrim wasn't on the menu. Yeah. Skyrim. It had to be Skyrim.
I flipped through the brochure, reading it fully before I decided on anything. The prophecies looked really interesting, but I didn't just want to pick one. Dovahkiin, Dawnguard, and Thalmor No More all looked really appealing. Dogs… I really wanted a fortress full of fluffy dogs. But I also really wanted to be the Dovahkiin… why this.
"Why is there no Prophecy based on becoming the headmaster of the College of Winterhold?"
"Oh, yes, that most gripping of the Skyrim plots," replied my benefactor, rolling their eyes. "So memorable, so gripping that you forgot the actual name of the position." Oh, shit, it was Arch-Mage, wasn't it. Whatever.
Well... I had my decision. I'm gonna be the Dovahkiin.

"Sevvie, we need to talk about your hoarding," said Cadis.
"Hoarding? What are you talking about?" I asked, fitting another Dragon Priest mask onto its place on the stand.
"Um. The warehouse is full of junk. Look! When will you need all those baskets," he said, motioning to a pile of neatly stacked and sorted baskets. "Can't we dump them, or sell them?"
"No, we can use them to carry things," I replied.
"Okay, what about the nails?" asked Cadis. "This is just a barrel of nails."
"Yeah, that's for when I build my house," I told him.
"A house?" asked Cadis. "Why in the world do you- why do you think you would be good at building a house? We own a house! We own more than one house!"
"Ok, sure, fine, you're not going to help me build my house, I get it," I replied with a sigh. "I'll build it myself."
"Sevvie, do you know carpentry? Do you even know how to build a wall?"
I sighed. "I could learn it really easily, I think. I know technology. They're like… cousins?"
"Well. This has got to be the worst house ever built," said Jiro.
A large stone nearly landed on Jiro's foot. Cadis started mumbling about the literal palace he owned. I tried to use magic to move the stones back in place and the house collapsed.
Skyrim, like Overlord, was another world where I had to occasionally kill people. And I still didn't like it. I prefered to curse people permanently to change their behavior, or paralyze them and turn them into the authorities. But sometimes that wasn't possible. Dragons were people, for example, and my kin, but they were nearly impossible to reason with.
Alduin- I was okay with killing him. He'd literally eat the world if I didn't, and I wasn't big on that. After their second attempt on me, we did end up getting rid of the Dark Brotherhood. That was also a hard decision to make, but I think we made the right one there.
Like, I knew that death wasn't the end. I was innately familiar with death. I was the Master of Death, I ruled my own realm of the dead, I had conquered Death, at least in my opinion. But my ideal world was one where the least amount of people died as possible.
Skyrim was in that regard far from ideal. But it was also a beautiful land, with magnificent landscapes and fascinating culture. I never did become the Archmage of the College of Winterhold because I ended up butterflying that plot, but I did study there for quite a while. I liked being there for a decade. Despite my responsibilities, it was… sort of carefree.
Though I did dump out most of the stuff in my warehouse after this jump. Cadis was right. Why did I have so many baskets?
2026 Retrospective:
A return to form for Sevvie. Sevvie decides to become the Dovahkiin, and becomes a khajiit mage. The story details little of her fight against Alduin, focusing instead on Sevvie’s deep hoarding problems and a funny bit where she tries to make a house, Hearthfire style, and fails.
Xyrus: It’s kind of endearing to see super-powerful Sevvie fail at something.
Quill: And look - Cadis’s palace is mentioned again. “Cadis started mumbling about the literal palace he owned.”
Sevvie spends some time ruminating on death. This is the only pair of sentences that mentions Alduin: “Alduin- I was okay with killing him. He'd literally eat the world if I didn't, and I wasn't big on that.”Quill: An ignoble end for such a powerful villain.
I think this makes sense for Skyrim, in a weird way. Most people’s fondest memories of Skyrim are getting lost, riding horses up a mountain, collecting every cheese wheel you see and never eating them. Not so much fighting Alduin. ← Previous Chapter|Next Chapter →
