Jump 8. Overlord

I won't bore you with the details of picking out what jump or what route they we were going for because literally we debated for four hours whether or not we wanted to go to Percy Jackson or Overlord. They both had the potential to be really good and also really fun- though also really stressful.

In the end we decided to go to Overlord, and we decided to take the Local route, mostly because with the scenario it would be the best for importing my companions. And of course I had to have those dorks imported, otherwise they would riot.

We ended up rolling dice to see who would have to be the actual ruler. But in the end I'm pretty sure that Jiro used telekinesis on the dice so it'd be him. "But Sevvie, it says you have to be the ruler!" Yeah, I was the ruler. We had one ruler and all five of us took turns being them, but it was Jiro most of the time. We had shape-shifting magic to spare, so we just made a persona up.

This was so that we could project the image of being a more powerful ruler than we really were. Of course, we were really all incredibly powerful. While the other four didn't yet have their full potential from this world, the powers they had from the others were enough so that they weren't really left behind at all.

Dealing with the Sorcerous Kingdom was… tricky, at best. On one hand, of course we couldn't frigging let Ainz's minions do whatever the hell they wanted, but also we knew if we touched one hair on their precious heads then he'd come gunning for us. And he had to consider us a peer. Peer. It was a word that meant so much.

There was also my rival, Carl. The less said about him the better. In the beginning when we were just starting our revolution he worked to bring us down, and once we were established he just tried to be a thorn in our back. I've stated before I don't like killing people, and that's still true. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel some relief once I confirmed his soul had arrived in my afterlife.

2026 Retrospective
A quick jump, about 300 words. Sevvie goes to Overlord and along with her friends, establishes some sort of kingdom. The only interesting facet of this kingdom is that the five members of the Sevvie Gang decide to create the illusion of one monarch, who they all shapeshift into, and that Sevvie has to be “peers” with Ainz.

Miranda: At no point are Sevvie’s politics, policies, projects, or anything of the sort detailed. The only thing we know about her kingdom besides what we just said was that she led a revolution of some sort.

It’s emblematic of the limitations of the daily challenges, and maybe my previous approach to jumpchain in general. Every day I felt like I had to pick a jump, generally the one I was the most familiar with or the one that would give Sevvie interesting new powers, and try to write about it. I haven’t read Overlord. I never watched more than an episode or two of Overlord. I primarily knew about the events that took place in Overlord by osmosis. However, it was one of the more powerful jumps written at the time (laughs in 2026 jumpchain meta) so I felt like Sevvie “should” go there.
Also, man is “They both had the potential to be really good and also really fun- though also really stressful” some clumsy writing.
